Jacob Bumpas

Jacob Bumpas joins ESPN Central Texas with a deep-rooted passion for sports broadcasting and a proven track record in radio. AJacob Bumpas proud East Texas native from Tyler and recent graduate of East Texas Baptist University, Jacob brings five years of on-air experience in sports radio and play-by-play announcing.

Throughout his collegiate career, Jacob served as a play-by-play voice for ETBU Athletics, calling a plethora of games across every sport that ETBU had to offer. He also spent four years covering high school athletics across Harrison County, quickly becoming a trusted voice in East Texas sports.

Jacob is a recipient of the prestigious Belo Scholarship from the Texas Association of Broadcasters, and his storytelling earned statewide recognition when he received the Texas Broadcast News Award for Best Story/Series for his high school football feature, Friday Night Lights Look Around the County.

Known for his preparation, authenticity, and dedication to highlighting athletes’ stories, Jacob is excited to bring his energy and expertise to Central Texas. He is committed to covering each team with integrity and making every show and broadcast memorable for fans across the region.

 

 

Lark Smith

Lark has been a lifelong Waco Resident with 47-years in sports media. He’s a 1978 Graduate of Baylor University, that has done play-by-play Baylor Women’s Basketball and Baseball for the on-campus radio station. From 1980 to 1985 Lark was the Sports Director at KWTX-TV, the sideline videographer and editor for the Grant Teaff Show, the official video provider for the UIL from 1985 to 1995, also play-by-play for Waco ISD since 2005.

Lark was a member of the Baylor Baseball Broadcast Team from 2004 to 2013, and from 2014 to present he is doing McLennan Baseball Play by Play. He’s called the National Championship Games for McLennan in 1983 and 2021, and has done Livestream Producing and play-by-play in football, baseball, basketball, and volleyball and has been a Radio Talk Show Host off and on since 1997.

Lark Smith and his wife will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2026. He has two sons, one being Dr. Cody Smith, a history professor at Dallas College, and the other Zach Smith, a history teacher at Fossil Ridge High School. He also has a Grand-daughter, Larkin, who turned one in July and is the apple of his eye. His family also has 3 grand dogs who are a joy for Lark to babysit.
